Description
This is not a soap that smells like somewhere. This is a soap built from somewhere.
On Portobello Road, in a London market, a sailor stopped. A woman smiled. And in a moment of extraordinary generosity across every cultural line that could have divided them, she shared her mother's recipe. Rose. Jasmine. Vanilla. Sandalwood. Ylang ylang. Five ingredients. Forty generations of Arab perfumery — the kind carried by Arabian women all over the world, and treasured especially in Dubai. One bar.
Silk & Salt blooms in our Floral collection — a bar rare enough to belong to two worlds at once. In our Floral collection it stands alongside Coconut Rose — our Egyptian geranium bar — and Pure Lavender — our single-oil calming bar. In our Forest collection it finds its grounded side alongside Velvet Rose — our deep, smoldering rose and patchouli bar — and Petals & Loam, where forest floor meets bloom. Where those bars lean into earth or into light, Silk & Salt walks the line between them — Eastern perfumery in its full complexity, neither purely floral nor purely grounded, but unmistakably both.
Rose essential oil is the heart of Eastern perfumery and the heart of this bar — deeply floral, warm, and unmistakably alive in a way that synthetic rose has spent a century failing to replicate.
Jasmine opens slowly and stays long after the lather rinses away. Together they form a floral core that is complex, warm, and unforgettable.
Sandalwood essential oil and sandalwood powder work in both directions — the oil contributing warm, woody, meditative depth to the scent while the powder adds a silky, skin-softening texture to the lather you'll feel immediately.
Ylang ylang ties it all together — exotic, rich, and the note that stops people in rooms and makes them turn around.
Organic Madagascar vanilla is ours — organic vanilla beans distilled at home, never synthetic, warm and skin-close in the way that only real vanilla can be. It's the note that makes this fragrance feel like it belongs to you rather than sitting on top of you.
Brazilian purple clay — among the rarest clays in natural skincare, found only in the Amazon basin — gives this bar its color and its mineral character.
Pink Himalayan salt carries trace minerals from ancient sea beds and adds a gentle exfoliation.
Organic coconut milk turns the lather silky and rich.
The base is certified grass-fed tallow — low-heat rendered, never bleached, never compromised — carrying the vitamins A, D, E, and K in a form your skin recognizes as its own. It costs twice what standard tallow costs. We've never considered using anything else.
Every bar cures a minimum of eight weeks before it leaves our hands. That's what produces a lather that feels like silk and a bar that holds its shape for months. Used daily, a single bar lasts two to three months — longer with the Captain's Bar.
Available as a Ballast Bar — 4.5 to 5 oz, hand-cut and unlabeled — or as a Captain's Bar — 5 to 6 oz, hand-shaved and Braille-labeled by Dolton's hands. Every single one. Because if you can't read it independently, it isn't finished.
Small batch. Plastic-free. Three continents. Five thousand years of perfumery. One bar.
The wind is out there. Point yourself into it.
