What's in it — and what it actually does

French rose clay is the heart of this bar — warm, gentle, and extraordinarily kind to skin that has been through something. The softest of the rose clays, it cleanses and tones with a lightness of touch that makes it suitable for even the most sensitive or reactive skin while its natural mineral content replenishes what the day has taken. It gives Velvet Rose its distinctive dusky rose color — the color of petals in candlelight, earned entirely by the clay itself. No dye. No artifice. Just the ingredient being exactly what it is.

Kaolin clay layers underneath the French rose clay — the purest and most gentle of all clays, adding a softness to the lather that makes this bar feel like skincare rather than soap. Together the two clays create a cleansing experience so refined and so kind that customers with rosacea, eczema, and chronically sensitive skin return to this bar specifically and consistently.

Egyptian geranium essential oil — grown in the Nile Delta and prized by perfumers worldwide for its extraordinary rose-like depth — is the floral soul of this bar's scent. On skin it is one of nature's finest balancers, regulating oil production and reducing inflammation with a gentleness that makes it the essential oil of choice for sensitive and mature skin. Why our tallow is different — and why it matters

Not all tallow is equal. Certified grass-fed means that animal spent a minimum of 95% of its life on open pasture — sun, grass, and open land the way nature intended. Only 5% grain. Ever. That standard produces tallow with a nutrient profile that grain-fed, shed-raised, bleached commercial tallow simply cannot match — rich in conjugated linoleic acid, vitamins A, D, E, and K, and the kind of bioavailable fats your skin recognizes as its own.

We source it low-heat rendered — meaning every nutrient is preserved from pasture to bar. We verified that process before we chose our supplier and we'd make a different choice if it changed.

It costs us twice what standard tallow costs. Even certified organic tallow can come from grain-fed, shed-raised animals. Certified grass-fed covers how that animal actually lived.
