Description
Syrena sat on a mooring in Charleston Harbor for nine years.
Every morning, seagulls. Every afternoon, dolphins sleeping in her shade. The smell of salt marsh, warm teak, and coastal grass coming off the barrier islands on the breeze. That smell — wild and green and unhurried — is what Dune Grass is built from.
This is the bar for the end of the day. The one you reach for when you need the noise to stop.
Dune Grass lives in our coastal scent collection alongside Spearmint Reef and Ocean — but where those bars wake you up, this one winds you down. Same coastline. Different hour.
What's in it — and what it actually does
Lavender essential oil is one of the most studied botanicals in natural skincare — genuinely anti-inflammatory, genuinely calming, genuinely effective at supporting skin recovery overnight. Not lavender fragrance. Lavender essential oil. The difference is the difference between a photograph of the ocean and actually being in it.
Lemongrass brings a bright, clean lift that keeps this bar from going flat — astringent enough to balance oily skin, gentle enough for daily use on any skin type. It's the note that keeps Dune Grass from being just another lavender soap.
Litsea cubeba — a small wild fruit from Southeast Asia — adds a Meyer lemon brightness that ties the whole scent together into something that smells handmade because it is handmade. Sharp, clean, and alive in a way that synthetic fragrance never quite manages.
The swirls are beetroot, spirulina, turmeric, and kaolin clay — each one doing real work beneath the surface. Drawing out impurities. Balancing. Toning. No synthetic dyes. Every color earned by an ingredient that belongs there. Each bar comes out slightly different because that's what happens when real ingredients meet real hands.
The base is certified grass-fed tallow — the same foundation under every bar we make — because nothing synthetic has ever matched what your skin does with a lipid it actually recognizes. Vitamins A, D, E, and K delivered in a form your skin absorbs rather than deflects. Restoration, not just cleansing.
The five generations behind every bar
This company didn't start in a laboratory or a corporate boardroom. It started with a great-grandfather who crossed from India on a ship for love and planted a family in English soil. A grandfather who taught a father about boats. A mother — an English lady in every sense of the word, honorable and uncompromising — who raised her daughter right and then loved her enough to send her to sea at nineteen to find out who she was.
It started with forty years of open water. A North Sea trawler named Komla running legal cargo to the Bahamian out islands. A little sailboat named Syrena that became a home. An eldest son now captaining yachts in the Caribbean with a 200-tonne ticket. And Dolton — conceived at sea during a circumnavigation attempt, born at 23 weeks after an accident, 157 days in the NICU, completely blind — who spent the first nine years of his life on Syrena listening to dolphins breathe in the dark.
When Dolton aged out of school at 21 and the services weren't there, we didn't wait for the world to catch up. We built something instead.
Dolton Braille's every label by hand. Every single one. Not because it's a marketing feature — because if you can't read it independently, it isn't finished. The website is screen-reader accessible. Every product is designed to be identified by touch. This company was built from the inside of that need, not the outside looking in trying to seem inclusive.
Small batch. Certified organic. Plastic-free. Built by people who know the difference between good enough and right.
The dunes are still out there. The barrier islands are still sending their smell across the harbor on the evening breeze. This bar brings the best of that home — and asks nothing of you except to slow down long enough to notice it.
