What's in it

Activated charcoal is the flag of this bar — jet black, immediately commanding, and the reason this bar is the color it is. It gives Black Flag its dramatic depth and its clean, no-nonsense character.

Bentonite clay works alongside the charcoal — a volcanic-ash clay rich in minerals including calcium, magnesium, and silica, prized in natural skincare for generations. Together with the charcoal it gives this bar its deep, purposeful cleanse.

Tea tree essential oil is the bar's disciplined officer — sharp, clean, and present in precisely the right amount. Not enough to overwhelm. Exactly enough to give Black Flag its crisp, purposeful edge.

Lemongrass essential oil is where Black Flag surprises everyone. Bright, citrusy, and immediately uplifting — it cuts through the darkness of the charcoal and the sharpness of the tea tree and turns this bar into something that smells nothing like a pharmacy and everything like somewhere clean and alive. The two oils together are more pleasant than either would be alone.

Organic aloe vera juice replaces a portion of the water in this bar — a cooling, soothing addition that keeps a bold bar feeling soft, so it leaves skin comfortable rather than tight.

Extra organic castor oil produces the rich, creamy lather that makes Black Flag feel luxurious despite its formidable look — the unexpected softness beneath the flag.

Why our tallow is different

Not all tallow is equal. Certified grass-fed means the animal spent at least 95% of its life on open pasture — sun, grass, and open land the way nature intended. Only 5% grain, ever. That standard produces tallow rich in conjugated linoleic acid and the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K — the bioavailable fats your skin recognizes as its own. We source it low-heat rendered, so every nutrient is preserved from pasture to bar. It costs us twice what standard tallow costs. Even certified organic tallow can come from grain-fed, shed-raised animals; certified grass-fed covers how that animal actually lived. We'll take our chances with the sun and grass.
