What's in it — and what it actually does

Activated charcoal is the flag of this bar — jet black, immediately commanding, and extraordinarily effective at what it does. Activated charcoal carries an electrical charge that acts like a magnet on skin — attracting and binding toxins, excess oil, environmental pollutants, and deep-pore impurities and lifting them away with a thoroughness that no clay alone can match. It is the reason this bar is black. It is the reason this bar works.

Bentonite clay works alongside the charcoal — a volcanic ash clay with an extraordinary ability to expand when wet, increasing its surface area and drawing impurities from deep within pores. Rich in minerals including calcium, magnesium, and silica, it doesn't simply remove what doesn't belong — it replenishes the skin's mineral balance as it cleans. Why our tallow is different — and why it matters

Not all tallow is equal. Certified grass-fed means that animal spent a minimum of 95% of its life on open pasture — sun, grass, and open land the way nature intended. Only 5% grain. Ever. That standard produces tallow with a nutrient profile that grain-fed, shed-raised, bleached commercial tallow simply cannot match — rich in conjugated linoleic acid, vitamins A, D, E, and K, and the kind of bioavailable fats your skin recognizes as its own.

We source it low-heat rendered — meaning every nutrient is preserved from pasture to bar. We verified that process before we chose our supplier and we'd make a different choice if it changed. Never heated to destruction. Never bleached. Never compromised. It costs us twice what standard tallow costs. Even certified organic tallow can come from grain-fed, shed-raised animals.
